The Screening, Part 2
I really thought that was the end of it and charged it to experience. It was kinda fun while it lasted. Am a little bit disappointed though. Part of me was wishing that I be selected as one of the studio contestants. But it wasn't to be. Which made me think, what where they looking for in a studio contestant? Was it whim on their part? Up to this day, I still wonder what the criteria is for a studio contestant.
Even though I wasn't chosen, I still enjoy watching Kapamilya Deal or No Deal when I get the chance to watch it. Two seasons have come and gone for the show and the thrill of each suitcase being opened one by one is still there... And I found myself texting them again. I still want to join the show after all.

I think it was September 20 when I got a text confirmation from a certain Jimmy Capulong of ABS CBN. The text message said that I should bring with me a picture, a pen and valid ID on September 24. That the screening will start at 9am and I should enter the Mother Ignacia entrance of ABS CBN. I did not know what to make of it. When I first texted the show, an automated phone number sent an SMS for confirmation. And suddenly, I get a private cellphone no. telling me that I should go to the screening process? Hmm... I saved the text message and made a mental note of the date and time... September 24, 9am, Wednesday.

The appointed day came. I was still debating if I'd go to work or not. But my best friend prevailed upon me and I decided to hail a cab and go to Mother Ignacia. It was around 7am. I got to ABS CBN a little before 8am. The day was cool (unlike the first time which was humid). It's as if the rain was going to fall any minute. And it did. I thought, what a blessing this would be if I get to be chosen.
Relatively, the crowd was smaller compared to the first time I joined. People were restless but friendly. Some of them have made it their career (they've been joining and joining until they end up in one of the station's gameshows). Before 9am struck, the marshalls have set up the tables and chairs for the registration. Again, males were separated from females, and those who were pregnant and had a recent operation had a line of their own.
Just like the first time, no food and drinks were allowed (good thing, I was able to sneak in mine). We all continued filling up the forms on the way to the studio where the show was taped regularly. This was not the case during my first time... we were all huddled in a bigger studio because of the big turnout of aspiring participants.
Jim Capulong was there to entertain us once more with his grin jokes and vulgar humor. He poked fun at some of the audience just like the first time. He introduced Dr. Dellosa once more. And the first test was given. Consisting of 14 questions, answerable by yes or no, the test was designed to see the type of personality you have. After the test, Jim began his routine again, until the results came in. Jim said that the results were taking so long (really now?)... He breathed a sigh of relief when the papers were handed in. And he began calling out the names of who will stay for the second round of testing.
Our batch, the first batch, had 340 aspirants. Only 10% or 34 will be chosen to take the test. The rest will have to leave once the 34 were called out. I was already holding my knapsack, ready to stand and leave the studio when Jim called out my name. I couldn't believe it! I was so surprised and delighted at the same time! Maybe the rain was indeed a blessing from God? Hmmmm...
It's going to be a long day for me...
to be continued...
