Online!!!
It's so good to be online again. After that episode with that kitten (which my father denies it ever happened), I can now say that I have upgraded to a bigger memory and a better processor (not me... my computer! hehehe).
And since I'm using Windows XP and Office 2003, I have to do the tiresome and boring downloading of updates for both software. *sigh* Am on my second day of updating everything. I haven't even started transferring the old files yet from the old hard drive to the new one... and that would take time, too!

I met a group of graduating students taking up advertising from Polytechnic University of the Philippines last night. They were referred to me by Tita Tess Manalo (a colleague waaaaaaaaay back when I was starting off in the industry). They had a consultation with me with a project they were doing for the university's annual Ad Clash, an event where advertising students are grouped together and become ad agencies. These students are tasked to come up with an ad campaign for real clients which the department assigns to them. Neat, huh? Ad Clash is a nice program for these students to get a taste of what really happens in the advertising industry. And it's just the tip of the iceberg.
That aside, I felt good again. I mean, I used to teach graduating students (as a guest professor for two semesters waaaaaaaay back) in the same university and the feeling of exchanging fresh points of view with the young generation does not make me feel tired or old. I felt more alive. Their dynamism and awe and naivete was not offputting for me. It was inspiring. So inspiring that I shared my experiences with the students. Oh, I was so eager to field them off in the advertising arena and let them wage war with the old and tired and the conventional...
And I felt the same thing when I met these students at Starbucks. They had so much to learn and so much to do. You can feel their thirst for knowledge not confined in the four walls of the classroom. It was overwhelming. You can see their gratitude in their eyes (it was genuine!) even though you only shared more than just two hours of discussion.
Am I being led to get into the noble profession of teaching? That would be a new direction for me if ever I take that road... Hmmm.
