Preparing for the Big Send Off, Part 2
We were all herded to the studio where the show was being taped. The studio was already packed with their regular professional audience. We were all able to catch the end tail of the 26k's dance number but we were treated to the magnificent dance mix of the usual opening theme to which the 26k dance to. Televiewers will be treated to a longer opening dance number come March 27.
We were then led on stage but when the staff realized that we were too many, one of the floor directors said that we occupy the steps where the 26k usually place themselves. When we were all in position, the floor director divided us so we can either exit stage left or stage right. Yeah, we were going to have a run through. The floor director cued the spinner to play "What A Wonderful World". He then said to us that the said music is our cue to enter the stage, waving to the audience. A gay millionaire quipped, "Ay! Rarampa tayo!"
When we were all settled, Lina called out two names who will be interviewed by Kris Aquino. One was Edna Amarille and the other one was--surprise, surprise!-- yours truly. Lina positioned us on the first step of the tiered stage, on opposite ends, so that the camera can easily cut to the both of us. We were then asked to exit the stage.
Backstage, we realized we were all delighted to be part of the show. We were all thankful for the Lord above that He showered us this blessing in our lives. "If it was really meant to be, it's gonna happen," I overheard someone say. At the same time too, we felt sad to see the show go off the air. You can feel the sadness in the air. The staff, the crew, the 26k...everyone involved in the making of the show gave off an aura of finality. It was kinda bittersweet.
The floor director loudly counted down... then "What a Wonderful World" played out loud. We all entered the stage and began waving at the audience, at the camera... we then went down the stage and took our seats. While on the way down the tiered steps, Mang Albert (an old and ancient man--also a big winner), drew attention to himself by "slipping" as he went down the steps. All of us were shocked and surprised at this but he just stood up and we all realized that we were all had! Sheeesh... he seemed to crave for attention... more on that later.
