Blast from the Past

I knew it's gonna be sooner or later when this will happen.  Especially now that I am also on Facebook.
I got this little friend request from a familiar name way back my elementary days.  It was from Lilith (well, she has a long name and we're used to calling her by her nick).  So I accepted the request.  Soon after, there was another request.  It was from Mark.  Then another... it was from Christina... then Jennifer... who's next? Hehehe. 

It really was a pleasant surprise to hear from my classmates way back my elementary days.  Totally, a blast from the past.  Who would've thought hearing from them after all these years? 
As of this writing, my classmates in Manila Christian Day School are slowly building up my contacts in Facebook.  Some of them were already thinking of a reunion (told them we're still not that many.  Besides, a lot of them are out of the country).  If ever this reunion pushes through, I would gladly go.  How much have they changed?  Are they still the same the way I knew them?  I often come across this saying: "The more things change, the more they stay the same." Does this apply to people, too?

March 11. Wednesday. I got to the Center Gate of ABS CBN around 5.30pm.  I was the second invited winner to arrive.  The family of Jhaphet Flordeliza was already there.  His mom, Babes, was quite a character.  She asked me if I had company and when I said no, she talked me into "adopting" her two friends (Tess and Nel Yap) as my "kapamilya." We asked an event marshall where all the winners would be seated and he pointed us to another event marshall who would entertain questions from us.  But said event marshall was busy giving directions to Jodie Sta. Maria's kapamilya who will play with her.  (Note on Jodie:  She is a snob.  Or maybe, she was just ignoring Babes who kept calling her Judy?) Quick Review: I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change

quick review habang fresh pa LOL (btw, thanks, Jeremy)! i was floored by this production of Repertory Philippines because i was trying hard to envision what was happening onstage while listening to the 1996 cast recording of the musical a couple of weeks ago. but thanks to repertory phils., they got THE Menchu Lauchengco Yulo to direct this musical revue. ang galing ng execution! her casting of 4 actors that can effectively essay 40 different characters was inspired. it was a treat watching all of them onstage! i believe repertory used the 2018 updated material with some tweaks from director menchu to make it more NOW (the projection design featured social media elements); she really pulled out all the stops for this one as there were so many things going on (scrims moving, the choreographed setting-up for the next scene, quick costume changes, etc.) and they were seamless. the actors were all terrific! loved the lullaby of Gian Magdangal (the baby song), the drama of rose ritz’ “very ...

How many times have we found ourselves at a dead end?  How many crossroads have we faced?  We have to make countless choices every day, but they are all easy.  Choices like where to eat for lunch, what to wear today, etc.  But big choices like resigning from work, getting married, etc. take you to a place where you need to think a hundred times or more before making a life-changing decision.  The nice thing about all of these is that you are in control.  You make the choice and you have to live with it.  But what if the universe has seemingly conspired against you?  Remember those times where you find yourself in the middle of chaos and uncertainty not because of your own doing?  Those times when you feel helpless because you're not in control?  That whatever you do might make matter...
